Richard Dale Mansel
Richard Dale Mansel was born on October 8, 1964 in Huntsville, Alabama. He grew up mostly in Florence, Alabama although his family also lived in several other states.
At the age of 16 Richard was baptized at Fort Smith, Arkansas. The next year he preached his first sermon at the Petersville church of Christ near Florence, Alabama.
He wanted to attend Bible College when he graduated from high school in 1983, but for financial reasons this was not possible. Instead he attended the University of North Alabama where he obtained a B.S. in Secondary Education with emphasis on History and Physical Education. While there he was active in the local campus ministry. He also preached in the area and on mission trips.
After graduation he spent time in retail management and in teaching but continued to preach, teach and work with singles' groups in his free time. He later decided to preach full-time and enrolled at Freed-Hardeman University in 1993 where he earned a Master of Ministry Degree with an emphasis in Teaching. Later, Richard attended the Harding Graduate School for one year and then Southern Christian University where he earned a Master of Divinity Degree in 2002 with an emphasis in Ministry.
Richard began preaching full-time in 1995. He has had articles published in several brotherhood journals and in local newspapers. His interest in writing started at an early age. When he was ten he would read stories he had written to his classmates at school. Richard has also been involved in mission trips to New Zealand and in extensive radio work, preaching and as a disc jockey. He is married to the former Deirdre Butcher and they have two daughters, Chelsea and Sarah.
